The experiment done in the lab consisted of potato oxidation. We had two potatoes; one boiled potato and one normal potato. We cut a little of each potato and put it into different test tubes. At each of them we put hydrogen peroxide, H2O2. Then we observed each of the test tube. At the test tube containing the normal potato we observed some bubbles but the other one didn’t have bubbles.
Our conclusion is that normal potato contains the enzyme called catalyse which breaks down the bond to produce oxygen and hydrogen. The enzyme of the boiled potato had denaturated and therefore they don’t function anymore.
So hydrogen peroxide isn’t broken down and no reaction happens.
